Tate Receives 36 Artworks from Jorge M. and Darlene Pérez and Appoints New Senior Curator
Philanthropists Jorge M. and Darlene Pérez have donated 36 works by artists from Africa and the African diaspora to Tate, including pieces by El Anatsui, Yinka Shonibare, and Joy Labinjo. The gift follows a multi-million dollar donation to Tate’s endowment and the contribution of a Joan Mitchell triptych earlier this year. Osei Bonsu has been appointed as the Jorge M. Pérez Senior Curator, International Art, Africa and Diaspora, to lead research and acquisitions in this field.
