Whitechapel Gallery has launched Backyard Biennial: East, an eight-week summer arts festival featuring collaborations with over 40 local partners across East London. The pilot project includes exhibitions, installations, and performances hosted at galleries, grassroots organizations, and public spaces to mark the gallery's 125th anniversary. The initiative aims to reframe the biennial model through community participation and sustainable cultural infrastructure in the East End.
