Zadie Xa to Present Site-Specific Installation at Guggenheim Bilbao for In Situ Series
Zadie Xa will present her work as part of the Guggenheim Bilbao’s in situ series, a programme that invites artists to create site-specific works in dialogue with the gallery’s architecture. Xa, born in 1983 in Vancouver and based in London, is a Korean-Canadian artist whose multidisciplinary practice explores identity, folklore and the transmission of cultural heritage of the diaspora through storytelling, performance and immersive installation. Based on Korean mythology, shamanistic ritual, science fiction and her own experiences, Xa builds multisensory environments in which hybrid beings disrupt the prevailing historical account.
