The Facts
On October 29, 2026, Galerie Max Hetzler announced that Rineke Dijkstra's work is featured in several group exhibitions. At CHANEL Nexus Hall in Tokyo, "Icons and Image Makers" presents portraits of British icons from the National Portrait Gallery, London's collection, spanning the 1950s to the present. Dijkstra is also included in "L'Heure des Possibles" at Maison Guerlain in Paris, exploring the transition between day and night. In Munich, works by Dijkstra, Günther Förg, and Albert Oehlen are part of "Long Story Short" at Museum Brandhorst, presenting the Brandhorst Collection chronologically for the first time since 2009. Additionally, Dijkstra's work appears in "Cocktail Prolongé: F. C. Gundlach Special" at Deichtorhallen Hamburg, as part of the 9th Triennial of Photography Hamburg, showcasing around 300 works from the Gundlach collection.
The Signal
The gallery also announced that Dijkstra's photograph "Isabel, Berlin, Germany, June 26, 2003" from 2012 has entered the collection of the Collezione Ettore Molinario in Milan, which focuses on photography from its origins to the present. This acquisition underscores Dijkstra's growing institutional presence across Europe, with her work appearing in multiple exhibitions that span fashion, portrait, and contemporary art contexts. The simultaneous shows highlight her versatility and the broad appeal of her photographic practice, while the Milan collection addition signals continued collector interest in her work.
