The Facts
On October 14, 2026, Galerie Max Hetzler announced that Sarah Crowner's collaboration with choreographer Pam Tanowitz, "Messengers, Maidens and the End of Something Else," will premiere at Lincoln Center in New York on November 8, 14, and 20, 2026. Performed by the Paul Taylor Dance Company, the production features set design by Crowner. Additionally, Crowner will join Tanowitz and artistic director Gideon Lester for a conversation about their earlier work "Pastoral" at Skidmore College, where Tanowitz is the 2026 McCormack Visiting Artist-Scholar in Residence. Crowner's work is also featured in "Faire Foyer: Sarah Crowner in Dialogue with Etel Adnan" at the Bass Museum of Art in Miami, which pairs Crowner's new bronze sculptures with a monumental ceramic mural by Adnan, alongside Adnan's 1960s photographs of the California coastline.
The Signal
The announcement underscores Crowner's expanding interdisciplinary practice, bridging visual art and dance through set design and spatial installations. Her dialogue with Adnan at the Bass Museum highlights a cross-generational exploration of abstraction and materiality, with Crowner's reflective bronze works engaging directly with Adnan's ceramic mural—the only such piece by Adnan in the United States. For collectors and curators, these concurrent projects signal Crowner's rising institutional presence across performance and exhibition contexts, reinforcing her position as an artist whose work resonates in both gallery and performing arts venues.
