Lehmann Maupin Now Represents Oren Pinhassi, With September 2024 In Focus Exhibition
The Facts
Lehmann Maupin announced its representation of New York-based sculptor Oren Pinhassi (b. 1985), whose anthropomorphic sculptures and large-scale installations examine the politics of architectural space and the human body. The gallery will present an In Focus exhibition of Pinhassi's work at its New York space in September 2024. Pinhassi, who received an MFA from Yale University in 2014, works primarily with sand, plaster, and burlap over welded steel; he is co-represented by Edel Assanti in London and Commonwealth and Council in Los Angeles. His 2023 institutional shows included 'This is a Rehearsal' at the Chicago Architecture Biennial and 'Moveables' at ICA Philadelphia.
The Signal
The signing deepens Lehmann Maupin's program of installation-based artists—Nari Ward, Lee Bul, Do Ho Suh, and Erwin Wurm are among those Pinhassi cites—and positions the gallery alongside his existing representatives in London and Los Angeles. For collectors, the In Focus show offers an early, focused look at large-scale works before a broader market push, while museum holdings at GAMeC, KADIST, and the Petah Tikva Museum of Art underline growing international institutional demand.
