Lisson Gallery Announces Publication of Susan Hiller Catalogue Following Major Posthumous Retrospective
The catalogue 'Susan Hiller: Dedicated to the Unknown' accompanies the exhibition organised by Museo Helga de Alvear and curated by Andrew Price. The exhibition ran at Museo Helga de Alvear in Cáceres from 28 June to 3 November 2024 and at Culturgest in Lisbon from 15 March to 22 June 2025. Co-published by Museo Helga de Alvear and La Fábrica, the catalogue includes a preface by Sandra Guimarães and essays by Andrew Price, Natalie Ferris, and Roger Malbert in conversation with Susan Hiller. Susan Hiller (1940–2019) was an influential artist whose work spanned more than five decades across painting, sculpture, photography, video, and installation.
The Signal
The catalogue marks the first major solo presentation of Hiller’s work following her death and documents investigations into irrational and unrecognised phenomena through early and late pieces. For collectors and curators, the publication provides a record of institutional interest in Hiller’s estate and the scope of her practice across multiple European venues. It signals continued scholarly attention to artists whose estates manage posthumous exhibitions and catalogues.
