Lisson Gallery Artists Among 62 Proposals for High Line Plinth Commissions

Lisson Gallery announced that three of its represented artists—Kelly Akashi, Ryan Gander, and Laure Prouvost—are among the 62 submissions under consideration for the seventh and eighth Plinth commissions on the High Line in New York City. The selected commissions are scheduled for installation in 2029 and 2030. Akashi's proposal, "Double Negative," is a 25-foot-tall sculpture of two laser-cut Cor-Ten steel doilies mounted on concrete bases, forming an open passageway. Gander's "Time Piece (for everyone, everywhere, forever)" is a two-part installation with a large digital clock displaying 88:88 and a totem cycling through 500 time-based statements. Prouvost's "DREAMING OF NO MORE FRONT TEARS" is a seven-armed terrazzo figure with gestures of care, protest, and connection.
