The National Gallery of Art announced on March 18, 2026, the acquisition of hundreds of new works spanning several centuries. The additions include 17th- and 18th-century miniature paintings, early American Civil War photography, and large-scale contemporary installations. The museum also added works by artists new to its collection, such as Teresa del Pò, Teresita Fernández, and Salman Toor, alongside pieces by Dan Flavin, Charles Gaines, and Barbara Kruger.
