KMSKA Antwerp Opens Antony Gormley Exhibition 'Geestgrond' as Creative Archive

On July 24, 2026, the Royal Museum of Fine Arts Antwerp (KMSKA) in Belgium announced 'Geestgrond', a special exhibition dedicated to British sculptor Antony Gormley (b. 1950). Rather than a conventional survey of finished works, the presentation functions as a creative archive, displaying sketches, iterative trials, and material imprints that trace the evolution of Gormley's practice over five decades. The exhibition includes a small sketchbook with swift human silhouettes that later became monumental iron structures and multi-meter sculptures, offering visitors insight into the artist's process from initial idea to finished form.
