On June 16, 2026, the Obama Presidential Center Museum in Chicago installed Maya Lin’s stone sculptural water feature Seeing Through the Universe on the Ann Dunham Water Terrace and Kiki Smith’s bronze sculpture Receive in the Hope and Change Lobby. Maya Lin’s work includes an upright oculus that mists and a flat pebble piece that cascades with water. Kiki Smith’s Receive is the largest of the artist’s bronze sculptures incorporating moon and stars motifs. The installations form part of the museum’s permanent presentation of contemporary art. They occupy key public spaces within the center designed to connect visitors to themes of the cosmos and shared human experience.
