Exhibition Sadie Coles HQ

June 15, 2026, the Art Gallery of Ontario in Toronto presents Diego Marcon's exhibition The Bubble Boy on view until October 4, 2026. The show marks the artist's Canadian debut and centers on his newest film Krapfen (2025), which depicts a child tormented by four animated objects in a bedroom setting set to music by Federico Chiari. Marcon incorporates CGI, prosthetics and robotics to create an uncanny effect blending elements of Hollywood musicals, horror and slapstick. The exhibition is organized by the AGO and The Vega Foundation, curated by John Zeppetelli, Julia Paoli and Kate Whiteway, and co-commissioned by Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Lafayette Anticipations, New Museum, the Renaissance Society and The Vega Foundation.

The Signal

The multi-institutional support for Krapfen signals Marcon's rising international profile among major museums and foundations, providing collectors with context on the work's production and distribution across North America and Europe. Gallery backing from Sadie Coles HQ and Galerie Buchholz further positions the project within established contemporary networks, indicating sustained institutional interest that often precedes broader market recognition for film-based installations.
