Exhibition Sadie Coles HQ

On June 15, 2026, Sadie Coles HQ reported that Ugo Rondinone has created fifty-four flags titled LIGHT for the ninth season of Art in Mayfair. The flags, drawn from the artist’s sunrise/sunset watercolour paintings, fly above Bond Street in London from June 8 to mid August 2026 and remain on view until August 24, 2026. Produced in partnership with the Royal Academy of Arts, the installation stretches the length of the street and forms a sequence of shifting geometric colours.

The Signal

The project places Rondinone’s exploration of light and transition directly into public space, coinciding with the Royal Academy’s Summer Exhibition. It reinforces Mayfair’s position as a hub for contemporary art programming accessible outside institutional walls. For collectors and curators the work signals continued institutional support for the artist’s long-running series in an urban context.
