Stedelijk Museum Extends Erwin Olaf Retrospective Through April 2026 Due to High Demand
The Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam is extending its exhibition Erwin Olaf – Freedom by five weeks due to sustained high visitor interest. Originally scheduled to close on March 1st, the show will now run until April 6th. The retrospective, which opened on October 10th, includes iconic series, videos, sculptures and the artist's final works, many never previously exhibited. A visitor survey recorded an average rating of 9 out of 10.
The Signal
The extension reflects continued public engagement with Olaf's work two years after his death and follows four-star reviews from NRC and De Volkskrant. The museum will host a related debate on March 28th exploring art and activism. The exhibition is curated by Charl Landvreugd in collaboration with Studio Erwin Olaf and is supported by Fonds 21 and the VandenEnde Foundation.
