Stedelijk Museum to Feature Murals by Hedy Tjin in Post/No/Bills Series Starting July 5
Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam will adorn the space surrounding its historic staircase with murals by Hedy Tjin beginning July 5, 2025. The works form part of the Post/No/Bills series that presents new creations by emerging graphic artists. Tjin draws on themes of solidarity and communal experience, referencing events such as King's Day, Keti Koti, and protests at Dam Square. She graduated in 2009 from the Utrecht School of the Arts and has created murals across Amsterdam, including a portrait of Anton de Kom.
The Signal
The commission places an emerging graphic artist within one of the Netherlands' leading modern art institutions, signaling growing institutional support for illustrators working at the intersection of street art and fine art. Collectors and curators may view the placement as an indicator of rising visibility for artists whose practice spans public murals and children's book illustration. The project also underscores the museum's continued focus on Amsterdam-based practitioners addressing social themes through accessible visual language.
