Exhibition Galerie Max Hetzler

On July 10, 2026, Galerie Max Hetzler announced the publication of a new catalogue for Tal R's solo exhibition "The Elephant in the Room" at Millesgården, Stockholm. The publication, which includes sculpture, painting, and drawing, features a preface by Sara Källström, poetry by Melanie Kitti, and a conversation between Bronwyn Griffith and Tal R. The exhibition presents a monumental pink elephant among Carl Milles’ white plaster casts, along with vibrant works exploring domestic space and the uncanny. Separately, Tal R will be the first exhibiting artist at Gammel Holtegaard in Copenhagen following its major renovation, with a solo show titled "Moonwalk" consisting entirely of sculptures installed throughout the main building, baroque gardens, and outdoor areas. A monumental sculpture from that exhibition will enter the institution’s permanent sculpture park.

The Signal

The simultaneous institutional focus on Tal R in Sweden and Denmark signals a significant acceleration of institutional recognition for the Danish-born artist, whose work bridges figuration and abstraction with psychological depth. The publication of the catalogue—complete with scholarly contributions—positions him within a critical discourse on domesticity and memory. For collectors, the permanent acquisition of a sculpture by Gammel Holtegaard underscores a growing trend among European museums to invest in outdoor works and long-term site-specific commissions, adding tangible value to the artist’s market across mediums.
