Tate Britain has started construction on the Clore Garden, a new public green space on Millbank designed by landscape architect Tom Stuart-Smith in partnership with the Royal Horticultural Society. The project is funded by the Clore Duffield Foundation with support from The Julia Rausing Trust and will open to the public in 2027. Year 4 pupils from Millbank Gardens Primary Academy unveiled artwork created with artist Mónica Rivas Velásquez on the surrounding hoardings. Blakedown Landscapes began site clearing and excavation after planning permission was granted by Westminster Council.

The Signal

The garden adds a new classroom, water feature and seating areas that extend Tate Britain's public programme into an outdoor setting used by over a million visitors annually. It positions the museum as a contributor to London's green infrastructure while providing a permanent display site for works from its modern and contemporary British sculpture holdings. The Chelsea Flower Show preview garden will be relocated to the site, linking a major horticultural event directly to Tate Britain's collection and learning initiatives.
