Tate St Ives to Present Major Exhibition of Emilija Škarnulytė in December 2025
Tate St Ives presents a major exhibition of Lithuanian-born artist Emilija Škarnulytė from December 6, 2025 to April 12, 2026. The show features films and immersive installations exploring deep time, climate change, nuclear energy, mythology and invisible power structures, including Æqualia (2023) and the new work Telstar (2025) made during a June 2025 residency at Porthmeor Studios. Works are presented in large-scale environments with architectural structures, glass sculptures and lightboxes, alongside pieces such as Aldona (2013). The exhibition is curated by Anne Barlow, Director of Tate St Ives, with Dara McElligott.
The Signal
The presentation positions Škarnulytė’s practice within institutional programming that pairs contemporary moving-image work with historic sites in Cornwall, offering collectors and curators insight into how mythology and technology intersect in post-human narratives. It builds on her recent solo shows at Kunsthall Trondheim, Canal Projects and Kunsthaus Göttingen and her 2023 Ars Fennica Award, signalling continued institutional support for artists examining ecological and geological systems through film.
