Uffizi Galleries Completes Restoration and Lighting Upgrade of Niobe Hall
The Uffizi Galleries has unveiled a comprehensive restyling of the Niobe Hall, featuring a new energy-efficient lighting system consisting of 90 high-color-rendering lamps. The project includes the removal of blackout curtains to allow natural light while protecting artworks with UV-resistant films, revealing previously obscured ceiling stuccowork and monumental canvases. Additionally, a 1st-century AD Roman monumental horse sculpture has been returned to the center of the hall for the first time since 2006.
