The Facts

On November 2, 2026, White Cube announced its participation in the 2026 edition of West Bund Art & Design, held November 10–15 at the West Bund International Convention and Exhibition Center in Shanghai. The gallery's booth (1C05) will feature works by Tunji Adeniyi-Jones, Georg Baselitz, Damien Hirst, Shigeo Otake, and Tesfaye Urgessa. Highlights include Otake's 'The Cat Stealer' (2026), following his recent representation by the gallery and a solo show in Hong Kong; Baselitz's 'Das zweite mal Großgold' (2025), part of his final body of work before his death in April 2026; and Hirst's 'Blood Life' (2019), ahead of his major exhibition at the Museum of Art Pudong in Shanghai opening December 2026.

The Signal

White Cube's booth underscores its deepening commitment to the Asian market, with recent representation announcements for Otake and Urgessa, both of whom had solo exhibitions at the gallery's Hong Kong space in 2026. The inclusion of Baselitz's late work, coinciding with his retrospective at Seoul's Sehwa Foundation Museum, and Hirst's upcoming Shanghai museum show, positions the fair as a key platform for cross-cultural dialogue between Western and Asian audiences. The selection reflects a strategic focus on artists with strong institutional momentum in the region.
