Bonhams Edinburgh Spirits Sales Feature 1995 Springbank Cask and Belgian Collection
Bonhams will hold two parallel spirits auctions in Edinburgh. The online cask auction A Campbeltown Legend: 1995 Springbank - Rare Sherry Cask runs from 22 September to 14 October with bidding starting at £160,000 and estimates of £200,000 to £300,000. The bottle auction Curated Spirits: A Belgian Collection Unlocked & Other Rarities runs from 22 September to 7 October and includes over 190 lots, among them a single-owner Belgian collection with The Macallan Tales of Macallan Volume 1 71 Year Old (£36,000-£40,000), The Macallan 50 Year Old Red Collection (£22,000-£28,000) and The Macallan 40 Year Old Red Collection (£9,000-£13,000). The 1995 Springbank refill sherry butt, filled at the distillery in May 1995 and held in Warehouse No.5, Campbeltown, showed 53.6% ABV at the July 2025 regauge.

The sales follow the appointment of Patricia Byott as UK Head of Spirits, Scotland and reinforce Bonhams' position as the only global auction house conducting spirits sales from its Edinburgh saleroom. For collectors the cask offering provides documented 1995 provenance and full traceability, a key factor in secondary-market valuation of maturing whisky. The scale of the Belgian collection and breadth of additional Scotch, Japanese and bourbon lots signal sustained institutional focus on rare spirits in the UK market.
