Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris is presenting Marina Abramović's 2009 video work The Kitchen V, Carrying the milk. The color video with sound, lasting 12 minutes 42 seconds in a loop, was filmed in the abandoned kitchen of the Laboral University of Gijón in Asturias, Spain. The artist, dressed in black, holds a container of milk that gradually spills onto her dress in the monastic setting. Additional works on view include pieces by Adel Abdessemed, Ziad Antar, Louise Bourgeois, Annette Messager, Rineke Dijkstra and Samuel Fosso.

The Signal

The selection underscores Fondation Louis Vuitton's focus on performance-based and video practices that examine the body, ritual and personal history. Collectors and curators can note the museum's continued acquisition and display of Abramović's early 21st-century output alongside established figures such as Bourgeois, signaling sustained institutional interest in these lineages of body art and self-portraiture.
