The Facts
On October 13, 2026, Galerie Max Hetzler announced a wave of milestones for Danielle Mckinney. Her solo exhibition “Tra noi” at Museo Novecento in Florence, curated by Sergio Risaliti and Stefania Rispoli, features 20 works, several previously unseen, alongside the Alberto Della Ragione Collection. Her traveling survey “Shelter,” organized by the Norton Museum of Art and the artist’s largest museum exhibition to date, is on view at the New Orleans Museum of Art. Mckinney was named to the inaugural TIME100 Art 2026 list; the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the High Museum, Atlanta, acquired her paintings; and her work appears in “When We See Us” at Liljevalchs, Stockholm, and in the Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo’s inaugural exhibition in Venice.
The Signal
The rapid succession of institutional acquisitions and solo presentations signals a shift from market momentum to museum validation for Mckinney. With works now at the Met and the High, and a Norton-organized survey traveling to New Orleans, her intimate figurative paintings are increasingly treated as collection anchors. Her TIME100 Art inclusion and Lady Dior commission extend that visibility beyond the gallery world, reinforcing collector demand for her contemplative canvases.
