Tate announced the appointment of Jessica Morgan, current Director of Dia Art Foundation, as its tenth Director, effective January 1, 2027. Morgan, 57, succeeds Maria Balshaw CBE and will lead the institution's four galleries: Tate Modern, Tate Britain, Tate Liverpool, and Tate St Ives. She has led Dia Art Foundation since 2015, overseeing capital projects, expanded free admission, and a 400% endowment increase to nearly $200 million. Morgan holds an MA from the Courtauld Institute of Art and degrees from Cambridge University.
Morgan's appointment at Tate, effective January 2027, marks a rare director-level crossover from a U.S. foundation to a U.K. national museum, likely reshaping exhibition strategy.
