Good morning. Frieze Seoul opens Wednesday, but today the wire is quiet—a Saturday for catching up on Kusama tributes and Richter in the Alps.

Sehwa Museum of Art Opens Georg Baselitz Retrospective in Korea

via Thaddaeus Ropac

The Sehwa Museum of Art presents a retrospective covering the 60-year career of Georg Baselitz (1938–2026), marking the first exhibition held in Korea since the artist’s death. The show spans from his early works of the 1960s through the 1980s, including key recurring motifs, to later portraits of his wife Elke, the Remix series from the 2000s, fragmented bodies and eagle motifs, and the Gold Painting series from his final years. A conversation with the artist’s son Daniel Blau, art historian Yun Heekyung, and columnist Lee Han-bit is scheduled for September 1, 2026, at the museum.

Six decades of Baselitz in Korea, his first posthumous retrospective at Sehwa—a market test for an inverted-icon's secondary prices.
