Good morning. London's 20/21 sales jumped 103% year over year, and Christie's is now courting the Tisch collection.

THE LEAD

Christie's London 20/21 Evening Sales Total £218.6M, Up 103% Year Over Year

via Christie's

On October 14, 2026, Christie's announced that its London 20/21 Evening Sales generated £218,603,400 ($289,430,902), a 103% increase year over year. The combined sales, held at King Street, achieved sell-through rates of 91% by lot and 96% by value. The top lot was Wassily Kandinsky's 'Das bunte Leben' (1907), which sold for £31,560,000, followed by Piet Mondrian's 'Composition III' (1920) at £25,235,000 and Francis Bacon's 'Figure in Movement' (1978) at £17,185,000. The evening also set world auction records for Bridget Riley, Liubov Popova, Dame Barbara Hepworth, Portia Zvavahera, David Bomberg, Igshaan Adams and Gerhard Richter, and Monsoon: The Peter Simon Collection became the highest-value single-owner collection ever sold at Christie's London, totaling £107,508,800.

Christie's £218.6M London result doubles last year and confirms the 20/21 sector as the market's strongest tailwind heading into November.
