THE LEAD

M+ to Present 'Myths and Monsters: The Art of Fantasy in Asia' from October 17, 2026

via M+

M+ will present 'Myths and Monsters: The Art of Fantasy in Asia' at its West Gallery in Hong Kong from October 17, 2026 to April 4, 2027. The special exhibition surveys fantasy in Asian visual culture from the 19th to 21st centuries, with more than 400 works across contemporary art, architecture, fashion, video games, and film. Co-curated by Ulanda Blair and Isabella Tam, it is organized in four sections, from ukiyo-e prints and Tibetan Buddhist thangkas to Surrealist works and anime, including pieces by Takashi Murakami, Ho Tzu Nyen, and a new mural by Oscar Chan Yik Long. HSBC is lead sponsor.

The Fondation Beyeler opens the final leg of the European Ruth Asawa retrospective today, a rare chance to see the wire sculpture pioneer's full range before the tour ends.
